Botox and Xeomin are effective treatments for excessive sweating hyperhidrosis
At Dr Sania Dorey Aesthetic Clinic, we offer a comprehensive range of services including injections for hyperhidrosis. Botox and Xeomin are highly effectiive treatments for hyperhidrosis a medical a condition that causes excessive sweating in the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) or palms and soles (palmoplantar hydrohidrosis). condition characterized by excessive sweating.
Hyperhidrosis is a relatively common condition characterized by excessive sweating beyond normal thermoregulatory needs. It might affect your underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis) , or palms and feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis). Excessive sweating can profoundly affect one’s mental well-being, self-confidence, social, engagement, personal relationships, and career decisions. Most often symptoms typically begins in childhood, manifesting itself more strongly during adolescence. An improvement after the fourth decade of life is common, and cases that persist after the fifth decade of life are rare. It is known that the size or number of eccrine glands, producing sweat, is not increased and these sweat glands do not possess any microscopic or macroscopic abnormalities. While the exact cause of hyperhidrosis remains intricate and not entirely understood, there seems to be a clear genetic component and complex interactions of the autonomic nervous system involving both sympathetic and parasympathetic pathways, leading to the overstimulation of normal eccrine sweat glands. Emotional and thermoregulatory sweating involves sympathetic cholinergic nerves
The use of neuromodulator BOTOX/XEOMIN for the treatment of hyperhidrosis can be most effective when performed by a trained clinician. Injections can be administered in a doctor's office, require relatively little time and do not demand any restrictions in work or leisure activity (aside from refraining from intensive exercise or the use of a sauna on the day of the injections).
Botox/Xeomin injection can be given to the underarms, palms and feet. Prior to Botox injections in the underarms, it’s best not to shave that area. During the procedure, a very fine needle is used to inject tiny amounts of Botox just under the skin intermittently throughout the area of excessive sweating. Multiple injections are given based on your care provider's assessment of the area that needs to be treated. To ease any potential discomfort, clinicians may use one or more of a number of anesthetic techniques such as nerve blocks, ice, vibration or topical analgesia.
After you receive Botox injections for any focal area, it’s recommended that you follow up with your healthcare provider in 1 to 2 weeks. This follow-up is highly useful because it enables your clinician to ‘touch-up’ any sweating areas that may have been missed during the first round of injections and ensure that you are getting the treatment’s full benefit.
Botulinum toxin injections do not cure hyperhidrosis; your symptoms will go away gradually (usually in about a week) and return gradually. Follow-up injections are required to maintain dryness. These repeat injections may be necessary at intervals varying from 7 to 16 months.
The cost of Botox treatments for hyperhidrosis will vary depending upon the size of the body area you need to be treated and whether insurance will cover any of the cost for you. A general estimate of the cost for two underarms is about 100 units.
